I am often asked as a New Jersey Divorce Lawyer, what the steps are in the divorce process.
- The first step is called case management. You and your attorney or your attorney by consent can work on a schedule and then have it submitted to the judge.
- Next is the discovery phase which reviews all of your and your spouse’s finances. This includes assets and debts.
- You will be required to attend an early settlement panel where your attorney and the other will provide a reasonable settlement for your review.
- If you are unsuccessful in settling in early settlement, you will be required to attend economic mediation.
